Landmarks

In the early days, the station, the churches, the school and the hotel were the landmarks in the village of Markstay. Later on the recreation field with its baseball diamond and tennis court, the community arena and hall, public works garage, municipal building, the post office and the water tower became part of the village's landscape.

Landmarks in Warren included the railroad station, the hotels, the Veuve River bridge, the Public School, the United Church, St. Thomas School and St. Thomas Church. At the present time some of those landmarks still stand although their appearance may have changed somewhat. Buildings and structures that grace the village's landscape today still include St. Thomas Church (rebuilt after the 1915 fire), the United Church, the Globe Hotel, the schools and so on and they have been joined by the Community Centre and Arena, the municipal complex, and the water tower to name a few.

The Lumber mills, Royal Hotel and the Church were landmarks in the Village of Hager. The Royal Hotel has been renamed the Green Hornet and it is a very visible structure in the village at this time. Other landmarks in the village of Hagar are the Hagar Central Bus Line operation and the Roy Lumber Mill.
