VOTE BY MAIL
On October 27th, 2014 eligible voters of the Corporation of the Municipality of Markstay-Warren will cast their ballot using the Vote by Mail voting method.  Ballots must be received by 8pm October 27, 2014.  Voters may choose to drop off their ballots at any post office or at the municipal office in markstay - 21 Main St South during regular office hours and on Election Day October 27, 2014 from 8:30 am to 8:00 pm.

What is Vote by Mail?
Vote by Mail is a method of conducting elections using the mail. It helps to eliminate the need for advance polls, or proxy voting. Essentially, every mailbox is transformed into a ballot box. When voting is as easy as mailing a letter, more people are likely to cast their ballots.

How does Vote by Mail work?
Data Fix  will print, address and mail kits to the voters on the Voters List. Once received, the voter completes the voter kit as per the instructions and deposits their completed kit in the mail. Canada Post then delivers the completed voter kits, including the cast ballots.

How does the voter cast his or her vote?
Step 1: The voter reads the instructions on the personalized sheet.
Step 2: The voter fills in the ballot, inserts it into the inner secrecy envelope and seals the envelope.
Step 3: The voter signs the voter declaration form.
Step 4:The voter inserts both the declaration form and the sealed inner secrecy envelope inside the yellow postage-paid return envelope and deposits it in the mail.

What about voters who inadvertently misplace their kit, or who are added to the Voters' List after the mailout?
These voters would be provided with a blank, or unaddressed voter kit. Typically, voters requring these kits would be required to present themselves at the election office, and sign a declaration stating that they are in receipt of an unaddressed (blank) kit.  proof of identity will also be required.

For further information regarding the above or any other election matters,  please contact the municipal office at (705) 853-4536.

Hello my name is Pierre Frappier and I reside in Hagar with my wife of 23 years Jeannine Brisson Frappier our daughter Caitlin and our son Zakary.  We have been living in the community for 25 years. I've been a truck driver for the last 28 years and am presently working for J. Gauthier Trucking.  My joys in life, other than my wife and kids are spending time in the bush or on the lake.

DSC00082    THEISS, Ronny  Office of Councillor
Ronny has been a resident of Markstay since 2009.  He studied engineering and business at McMaster University.  Following a dream working in aerospace and space applications, Ronny moved to Sudbury to build tools for rovers to prospect for water on the local group of planets.  From this role he has gotten the nickname of Markstay's local rocket sicentist (Disclaimer: I don't build rockets.  Yet).  In Markstay-Warren, Ronny has been involved in numerous community events starting with the Main Street Fair and Santa Claus Parades. He later joined the fire department and rose to the rank of lieutenant.  Ronny supports a wide number of community initiatives such as the skating rink, the Markstay Ski Club, the Warren Agricultural Fair and the Bots Program.  Ronny is keen to help out in community projects, particularly where a little technical expertise comes in handy.
Ronny isn't a foreigner to the political scene.  He has been on national television, and in the news since high school.  He isn't afraid to give the media a call to boost awareness about a program.  Grant applications, political meetings and networking are all within a normal day's work.
